Last time I talked about the Cane Corso muzzle and the segments and how to recognize its quality of it. The muzzle is a very important characteristic not only for the look of the dog but for the health of the dog. This time I will talk about the separated segment of the muzzle, about the Cane Corso nose.
I have talked about the Cane Corso nasal bridge and mentioned the nose and its position there. But this time I will explain why it is important not only for the look but also for the health.
The Cane Corso nose affects health, look, and working ability!
This is very clear if the nose mushroom is not on the same line as a nasal bridge. This means that the sinuses, from its start – nostrils, would not have sufficient size to extend the length of the nasal bridge, but would be twisted in one or several parts, which leads to less airflow and more difficult breathing.
Unfortunately, people today look more at color and something else than health. Even though this sounds as not important, this is extremely important for health. Without enough airflow, it pushes the dog to breathe faster to get enough air for itself. Causing the heart to work faster. With faster working, blood pressure will get higher. Everybody of us knows what means high blood pressure, which can cause cardiac arrest and death.
A high number of Cane Corsos do not live even 4-5 years, cause of cardiac problems. Not only breathing may affect this, but might be one of the factors. This is extremely important for new owners and people who are searching to buy a Cane Corso puppy, be aware and make good research before you purchase a puppy.
I am sure you are not looking to buy one puppy per year, but one puppy for at least 10 years! This is one of the logo text of “Spunk Gang” kennel which you can find out on home page at FAQ!
What is the perfect Cane Corso nose?
Check below on the photo please
The perfect Cane Corso nose mushroom is rectangular with ample open nostrils. Less open nostrils than this are considered as not enough open nostrils and are a fault for health and the look. I explained about the health, and I will show you the real photo examples of how look the wrong Cane Corso nose. It’s going from the 1st photo, which shows the good open nostrils. Ending with 4th photo, which shows the wrong closed nostrils. Check the photos below please:
The shape of Cane Corso nose
Next to the health segment and the Cane Corso nose, here is one more segment of how the nose should looks. Why it should be rectangular, as I mentioned at the start of this article.
The rectangular big nose gives in most the cases square muzzle. With a big rectangular nose, including a broad down jaw, it forms the perfect Cane Corso muzzle. The smaller and not rectangular nose will give the dog less width of the upper part of the muzzle. It will form not a good trapezoid. If you check the last article, you will know what I am talking about.
As well, the not rectangular shape of the nose will make a higher chance that the nostrils will get not enough open. See, it’s all very thin-connected when we talk about quality and health.
The first photo shows the excellent shape with ample open nostrils. It makes higher chances for the better health but also for the characteristic Cane Corso look.
All other photos ( 2-5 ) do show not the good shape of the Cane Corso nose. This might cause health problems if the nostrils are not enough open or, or it will cause not a good look. Especially if the nose is small, rounded, or square. It makes the higher chance that the front look of the muzzle looks thinner than the required square in shape.
Cane Corso nose and working ability
After you read the text, you will get the point, if the dog has not had ample open nostrils and can not breathe well, it will cause that dog can not to work well. Less air will cause earlier fatigue in working and then the dog will lose focus as it is focused to take pause and take a breath.
