The Cane Corso fluffy should be considered a long-haired dog! This thing is a must know, to everybody who wants to own a Cane Corso. But long-haired Cane Corso does not exist purebred. The crossbreeding trend between two breeds is usually without care and may produce sick dogs and many problems for the owners but only profit to the breeders who don’t care about the animals!

Let’s explain why Cane Corso has short hair!

Climatic factors directly affect the Cane Corso body (skin and coat) and digestive organs. Also, climatic factors influence indirectly, through the nervous system, the entire circulation of substances in the dog’s body.

Next to the genes, climatic factors are the reasons why has Cane Corso a short hair. Cane Corso fluffy will be a dog with long hair, but it does not exist purebred, like in the photos below!

Update: Cane Corso and Newfaundland dogs are related breeds, both are moloss dogs, but in some of the upcoming articles I will talk about differences.

Last time I talked about Cane Corso fur, but it is important to know that the climate had a direct influence on the creation of today’s dog breeds. It also has a great influence on certain modifications of certain breeds of dogs.

Cane Corso dogs, and other breeds in general have not the same body structure, constitution, and quality of coat, skin, and subcutaneous tissue if they live in Italy and Norway. Or if we talk about America, they have not the same if dogs live in North, Middle, or South America. Therefore, the dog acclimatizes to the conditions in which it lives.

It is considered that complete acclimatization of the Cane Corso has occurred only when 4 generations have been raised in the new climatic area.

How do different areas affect Cane Corso short hair and skin?

Temperature is the factor that has the strongest effect on the Cane Corso body. It affects the external appearance of the dog’s body. Also, the physiological processes change under the influence of extreme temperature changes. Temperature affects the skin, Cane Corso short hair, and the circulation of substances in the body. The long-haired dog will be Cane Corso fluffy, but that is not a purebred dog.

The dog’s skin plays an important role because, in addition to other functions. It protects the body from harmful influences and various factors from the external environment. It is made of 3 layers, upper, middle, and lower.

The skin, in the strict sense of the word, consists of the upper and middle layers. The Cane Corso puppy and it’s skin have the same 3 layers which will form later during the growing time and depend on the temperature area.

What science says about skin?

Science has established that the thickness of individual skin layers can vary depending on the temperature and the environment in which the Cane Corso lives. Thus, it has been noticed that Cane Corso which lives in warmer regions has generally thinner skin. While dogs which live in colder regions have thicker skin with highly developed subcutaneous tissue – the lower layer of the skin.

These differences are visible in the spring especially. Comparing dogs that live outside with dogs that live inside, they have different skin. But Cane Corso fluffy does not exist purebred!

Warm areas affect Cane Corso short hair and skin. High temperature acts on the nerves of the outer parts of the skin, and these. Through the nervous system, affect the nerves of the blood vessels, bringing blood to the skin, and slowing down the body’s work.

As a result, blood vessels expand so that blood reaches the upper layers of the skin to an increased extent. When high temperatures work for a long period, the subcutaneous tissue receives on average less blood and therefore develops less of the upper layer of the skin.

Low temperature has the opposite effect. It causes the narrowing of superficial blood vessels. As a result of which blood is retained more in the lower parts of the skin. That is why its surface is pale.

It is very easy to notice on your Cane Corso, how react in winter or summer. They are more playful and active during the winter, but during the hot days in summer, they want to rest.

How does the temperature affect Cane Corso short hair and undercoat?

Temperature also affects the density and thickness of the coat and undercoat. Thus, dogs that live in warmer areas or indoors have a thinner and shorter or no undercoat. While dogs that live in colder areas or outside have a thicker and dense undercoat. The reason is logical, such an undercoat protects the body from the cold. Anyway, long-haired dogs or modern call “Cane Corso fluffy” does not exist purebred.

The temperature also affects the metabolic processes in the body. Heat reduces and cold increases the circulation of substances in the body. Heat acts through the nerves on the muscles, slowing down their work.

As a result, the circulation of matter and the work of the muscles for chewing and organs for digesting food are reduced. The cold, on the contrary, encourages the muscles to work more actively through the nerves. As a result of which the circulation of substances increases. temperature affects the speed of wound healing. Hence the fact that wounds heal faster in dogs living in warmer regions.

Due to all of the facts I wrote about different temperatures. If we take the fact that Cane Corso is an Italian breed, from the south of the country. It is very easy to conclude because of the seasons spring, summer, autumn, and winter in Italy, what coat this dog has. Cane Corso short hair with a dense undercoat that protects it during the winter.

It is not simple to change the Cane Corso short hair to long hair, as it took many MANY generations of dogs including genes of it. Short hair is formed in genes! It is a breed trait, and only with crossbreeding Cane Corso fluffy or long-haired Cane Corso may exist.
