Is a carbon Cane Corso regular color?
Many people in the last time prefer or ask for the carbon color puppies and dogs. That is fine until it is a dog for the purpose to be a pet. If the carbon Cane Corso is promoted as a dog for show purposes, you should know that that breeder is not serious and reputable but probably a backyard breeder.
In some of the upcoming articles, I will write about regular Cane Corso colors, as many of you know already, but somehow, colors like carbon are, pass to the people who are not enough informed about the breed and get scammed by the backyard breeder. They wanted a show dog, but they get the wrong information from the breeder and buy the irregular color for the price of a show Cane Corso puppy.
Educate yourself and do research before you buy a Cane Corso puppy.
Depending on the purpose you want a puppy ( pet, breeding, or show dog ), if you do a good research, you should go and check with the breeders about available puppies.

Earlier I talked about Merle Cane Corso, as an irregular color that consists merle pattern. If you did not check, you can do it here. To be honest, I do not know how exactly carbon Cane Corso became, is that crossbreeding or some purebred mutation but I can assume it’s because of the wrong breeding of two dogs which produced a fawn color with a black pattern.
What is exactly carbon Cane Corso color?!
A dog from the mud but a modern color name?
The Cane Corsos which is selected as carbon color, they are fawn colored dogs. The basic color starts from light fawn, through normal fawn to strong fawn or red color. But the fact make them carbonic Corsos is the black pattern or black finish they have particularly the body or on some parts of the body.
Usually, carbonic dogs have extended black or grey mask which goes over the line of the eyes. You might check the standard of the breed to confirm this. Not all but many of them have it. We consider black mask starts from the tip of the nose. This mask is, quality dogs do not have and it’s not allowed by the standard of FCI and AKC. Indeed, dogs with a face mask like this should be penalized and disqualified from dog shows and championships. But this is not the end.
The very specific for the carbon Cane Corso is the black finish randomly on body parts. That means that carbonic dog has a black finish over the length of the back, on the legs, and on the chest. Sometimes dog looks like is very dirty, as if it had come out of the mud.
But, let the photos explain better than the words what exactly carbonic Corsos are:
Here you can check right explication of color described by standard.
Some people will try and tell you that carbon color is related to formentino color. Some other might tell you that this is strong fawn color. That is not the truth. But I will explain exactly what the formentino color is in the upcoming articles.
