Eternal dilemma, cropped or natural Cane Corso?
While some are for cropped ears and tell reasons as its traditional look, a healthier way as to avoid Cane Corso ear infection. The others are against surgery and prefer the natural look of the Cane Corso, tell its a better way, no cruelty to animals, and other well-known reasons.
Some other group of people will say it’s about a taste, but… I am not going to speak about what is better. I will stay focused on Cane Corso health this time and explain, how may the look (ear style) of the dog affect health. How it is related to Cane Corso ear infection?
Surely, preventive cleaning treatment will be good to protect ears from the possibility development of bacteria, as people clean their own, does not matter if ears are cropped or natural. The inside part of the ears is soft and suitable for bacteria development. With that situation may comes to the ears infection. Treatment of the Cane Corso ear infection is not complicated but takes a time, may takes a long time indeed and be very hard to fix.

For the people who do not support surgery of ears but support sterilization of dogs, be aware than in both cases dog has to be put in total anesthesia. In both cases surgeon will cut the part of the organ or whole organ and remove it from the body.

As many of you know, there are some breeds which naturally has erected ears. This is excellent and their ears can breathe good, avoiding ears infection. Breeds as French Bulldog, Boston Terrier, Papillon, Chihuahua. But also some kind of medium to big size dogs like German Shepherd, Alaskan Malamute, Siberian Husky, etc… They all have naturaly erected ears.

As you can see, it changes nothing but the size of the ears only, which may affect the look and expression of the dog. But it is only about aesthetics.

Human’s ears are always “open” and skin can breathe well, but still people can get ear infection, it is good to do preventive cleaning and keep ears healthy. If we cut ears of the person, it will be nothing but aesthetics only. Check the air on the photo next to the ears.
